It’s 10 years — TEN YEARS — since the launch of MediaGuardian.co.uk, and to mark the occasion I was asked write a short bit about my time working on the site.
It’s online and in print today.
I’d been at the Evening Standard for a while by the time I joined the MediaGuardian website staff, who had already been causing trouble for two years by that point. I’d been freelancing for the printed edition of MediaGuardian for some time, but the web was really where I cut my teeth.
Lisa O’Carroll, the editor at the time, was a whirlwind who demanded (and received) the best from all of us; Jon Casson, the production editor, was a calm and collected counterpart and remains a great friend. The rest of my colleagues — some who remain at the Guardian, some who don’t — were great, too. I enjoyed almost every day, and they taught me a lot.
