Oh, so much to organise. Turns out that it’s incredibly difficult to do any work while trying to move continents — particularly since this time (as opposed to when we moved from the UK to the US) everything is down to us. There’s no organisation guarding my back any more, so the packing, the paperwork, the tickets, the planning is entirely our responsibility. That’s a little bit stressful.
However, work can stand to one side for a little bit. I’ve got a couple of pretty well-formed ideas to pitch when there’s a spare moment, and some exciting leads that might come off soon (more on that later, perhaps). Work’s a side issue — though an important one.
Now it’s just about saying goodbye. Dinner with friends. Last minute visits to local landmarks. Marking the memories with a tattoo or two. A fair bit of drinking. Selling off our belongings. One week to go and we’re winding it all down and feeling a bit tearful. We’ll be visiting soon enough, of course, but who knows when — or if — we’ll ever live here again.
