It’s been a tumultuous time since my last weeknotes update. Since then we’ve moved continent, country, city, home. I’m getting used to the sudden change, but it’s hard to adjust.
The plan for the Grand Return was simple: spend a week or so getting our affairs in order —the house, the business, the bills and so forth — and then get cracking with work. That’s been tough for both of us because we couldn’t get internet access at home for a couple of weeks (something that’s utterly vital to work) and for me in particular since I was laid low by a bad cold almost as soon as I arrived. Now, though, the network is connected now and my cold is starting to wane, so finally I can get stuck into trying to make some money.
So far, though, it’s been a bit thin on the ground. I published a quickie for GigaOm after a source showed me some legal documents that revealed some behind-the-scenes information at blogging pioneer Six Apart.
I’ve chatted with a couple of editors about ideas, hit a couple of dead ends and scored a few promising leads. And there’s a good idea I’ve bounced around a little that seems like it might have legs — something a little more entrepreneurial. But we’ll see how that develops.
In the meantime, I’m still scouting around for a meaty project to get to grips with. If you think of anything let me know.
